No one wants dry, crusty hands.
If you don’t deal with dry skin the problem will just escalate resulting in the skin to get sore, crack and bleed and once you get to this stage it takes forever to get it back on track. So, its important to keep on top of dry skin and moisturise.
I have been battling with dry hands for a very long time. The reason for my dry hands is firstly from washing them about 10-12 times a day, using a lot of alcohol hand gel and forgetting to moisturise. As my day job involves working in a lab I am wearing gloves for most of the day and washing my hands every time I enter or leave the lab area. On top of that I develop dry skin and calluses on the palms of my hands from lifting weights at the gym.
Due to my lifestyle I am always on the hunt for the perfect cream that will be suitable for the working environment. Most creams are great at moisturising but they are not great for someone who works in an environment similar to mine. They leave your hands slimy and sticky and you’re sat there having to wait for the moisturiser to absorb.
I have a few favourite hand creams but the Kiehls Ultimate Strength hand salve is one I particularly use on a working day. It comes in a tube and available in two sizes, 75ml £14.00 or a 150ml for £19.00. The larger tube is better value for money but is a little large to have in your handbag.
The cream itself is quite thick but absorbs super quickly and does not leave a greasy, sticky or slimy layer on your hands. It absorbs in so well that you can apply it and get back to work straight away. If you open a door, typing away at your key board or driving, your hands will not be slippy and leave a trace of cream everywhere. The scent of the cream is very simple, it is fairly neutral and I would say has a unisex scent. I don’t have to apply a huge amount, a little does go a long way. If I have been neglecting my hands a bit, I apply a generous amount just before bed as an overnight deep conditioning as it has 7-8 hours to really get in and do its job. It really is a great product and well worth the money.

Kiehls is one of my fav beauty brands. The products may be on the pricey side but they are great. Also I love the fact that they do samples in store of almost all the products they sell. This is how I found out about this hand salve. I was sent a sample of it, it had enough in the sachet to apply a generous amount 2-3 times and I knew instantly it was for me. Also being a Scientist I am drawn to the lab feel they have in their stores, with the staff wearing lab coats, hanging skeleton, products being displayed in flasks and beakers…i love it all.
