Hong Kong Hotel Review: L’hotel élan

For my stay in Hong Kong, I stayed at the L’hotel élan for three nights. The hotel is located in an area called Kwun Tong which is fairly close to Mong Kok which is a very popular area in Hong Kong.

It took me some time to decide where to stay in Hong Kong. It was on a friends recommendation that I decided to stay near Mong Kok. Also most of the areas that I wanted to explore were close by to the hotel and easy to access.

The hotel is located about 5 mins walk from Ngau Tau Kok Station so there is great access to get around Hong Kong. If you have large suitcases I would suggest to maybe get a taxi to the hotel to make life easier. On arrival at the hotel I was instantly impressed, the lobby area was beautiful and so open and chic. We were greeted by the lovely staff and guided to the lift to the 35th floor to check-in. Thats right…the check-in desk was located on the 35th floor. This is the first time I have ever experienced anything like this and I thought it was a lovely idea and very unique as you were not only greeted by the lovely staff but the beautiful skyline of Hong Kong.

The check-in process was very easy and didn’t take any time at all. I made my way to my room and I was not disappointed at all. The room was spacious, I had a huge bed, comfy chair, desk area, mini fridge and window seating. On arrival I had complimentary fruit and champagne, the fridge was stocked full of complimentary drinks and snacks, I couldn’t be happier. It was a very homely room and I felt very comfortable in there. The hotel offered free wi-fi throughout the hotel including the hotel rooms. I was really happy about this, I like the convenience to be able to use the internet from the comfort of my room rather than having to sit in a communal area.

The hotel is very open and planned out very well with great decor which is minimalistic and fresh. I have to say it is very well presented. On the top floor (35th) there is an outdoor pool which overlooks the Hong Kong skyline. Sadly during November-March there is no access to the pool, this is due to the weather. But take a look at the picture below…how beautiful does it look. I can imagine how amazing it would be to take a swim on the 35th floor of a building overlooking the skyline, particularly at night when it’s all lit up.

Also on this floor there was a gym which was equipped with some basic fitness machines, weights etc. I had every intention of using it but never got round to it haha, I mean all the walking I did around Hong Kong was a workout in itself.

On the 3rd floor there is a beautiful terrace with amazing sofa’s and seating. Sadly I was limited on time in Hong Kong and I didn’t really get a chance to make the most of this area and chill out.

Time to move onto breakfast. I decided to get breakfast for my stay at the hotel as it would set me up for my day straight away without me having to go out looking for something. The breakfast buffet is served in the Forte restaurant and bar area. The restaurant area is really well designed and very spacious. The breakfast did not disappoint me. There was such a large variety of food, eggs, toast, sausages, cereals, juices, local dishes, croissants…the list goes on. The food was replenished very quickly, they didn’t get trays go empty. The layout of the food and drinks around the central area worked really well as everything was spread out so people weren’t queuing on top of each other.

During my stay at the hotel I had the opportunity to meet a couple of lovely ladies, Hilda to my left and Elyse on my right who worked for the hotel. They were so sweet and I got the chance to get to know them and they kindly gave me a tour of the hotel and all the facilities, which was great. Here’s a picture of us in front of a lovely piece of art called The Plum and Blossom Peony (sorry we seem to be blocking most of it). This wasn’t the only piece of art they had, they had various pieces scattered all throughout the hotel which was lovely to see.

L'hotel Elan

When it was time to leave I was actually sad to say goodbye to all the great staff working at the hotel. They made my stay so pleasant and I felt I really connected with them.

I wouldn’t think twice about staying at L’hotel élan when I’m back in Hong Kong, without a doubt my first and only choice. Want to say a big thank you to EVERYONE at the hotel for making my visit so pleasant. I really enjoyed my time with you all and hope to meet you again soon.
