Mini Shoe Haul

Before my trip to Ibiza I decided it was time to invest in some new footwear. To be honest, I don’t need an excuse to shop. Normally when I go shopping for something in particular I can never find anything, but this time I came away with two pairs of sandals that I fell in love with. They’re both quite different from one another and are real statement pieces that can add a lot of character to a simple outfit.

The first pair is a chunky white sandal called Clarissa from Dr Marten. These sandals are very versatile and go with a lot of outfits in my wardrobe so a great purchase. They were £95 which is expensive, but I know they will last me a long time as Dr Marten footwear is so hard-wearing. The only thing that worries me about them is keeping them clean, especially the white stitching. As they are still new I have been cleaning them regularly. I tend to wipe them down with a wet wipe, paying particular attention to the stitching. Once they are clean I give them one thin coat of Wonder Balsam which is available from the Dr Marten store for £6. The best thing about this product is that it has a sponge to apply the product in the tub so you don’t need an additional applicator, it’s all in one. The Clarissa’s are super comfortable once you have broken them in. Like most Dr Martens the first few wears will be slightly uncomfortable, they will rub like hell and you will probably end up with blisters, but soon after you forget about the pain it and they will be your new love. Actually, bit similar to women having babies! They go through all the trauma and pain during giving birth then after forget all about it and say it was worth it and want to do it all over again haha!

Now on to the next pair, a gorgeous pair of gladiator style sandals from Topshop. They are called Figtree gladiator sandals and were £52. They are comfortable which I wasn’t expecting as I thought the laces would be irritating, but they didn’t bother me at all. I find that these sandals don’t look great when you see them in the shop but when they are on they look amazing. There hasn’t been a day that I’ve worn these and someone hasn’t stopped me to say they liked them or asked me where I got them from! These aren’t the kind of sandals that you can throw with every outfit but with the right outfit look fabulous. Perfect way to add a bit of character to a simple outfit. I loved wearing these in Ibiza with a pair of denim shorts, vest and a tassel bag.

I’m hoping the Sun will be back soon so I get to wear these a little more before they need to be stored away!
