Forget your beach towel, leave the bucket and spade at home, and relax in the knowledge that you won’t be getting sand in places you never knew existed, because this is a beach trip with a difference. Think musical geniuses, sparkly microphones, dreamy boy bands, and more dry humoured presenters than you can shake a stick at. Yes, that’s right, I’m talking about T4’s annual beach extravaganza cleverly named ‘T4 on the Beach’. Obvs.
Yesterday saw madness descended upon Weston-Super-Mare for the 7th year running, as over 50,000 hormonally imbalanced fans screamed their way through performances, by some of the best acts in Britain right now. We’re talking the likes of The Wanted, everyone’s favourite cheeky chappy OllyMurs, JassssonDerruuulllooo (go on, sing it), The Wombats, Nicola Roberts, McFly and Katy B. Phew, and that’s only some of ’em.
Tuning in from the comfort of my own sofa, in my pyjamas, with a cuppa on the go, I watched as artist after artist blew up the stage and well and truly rocked Weston-Super-Mare. Personal stand out performances for me were Nicola Roberts, OllyMurs (swoon) and Example.Firstly, Olly-hottie-Murs. Olly, looking a little nervous to begin with, opened the day with a bang. Proving that he needs little more than a straw hat and a few signature dance moves to remind us why we all love him, he got the crowd on their feet and ready to go. Did I mention how hot he is?
Secondly, Nicola Roberts. Now I have to say the very first time I heard Nicola Robert’s debut song ‘Beat Of My Drum’ I thought ‘oh no, what is she doing’. Ok, so I’ve been made to eat my words as I actually really quite like it now. I think it’s got a wicked beat, catchy rhythm and it’s easy to sing along to. In fact every time it comes on I can’t help but dance. Her first solo performance to such a huge crowd must have been beyond daunting, but I think girl did good. Considering she’s always been known as ‘the ugly one of the group’ (not my words) she also looked amazing, embracing her natural look, and for that I think she deserves credit. To be honest, it’s about time one of the Girls Aloud ladies came along and took away the limelight from Chezza.
And last of my top three was Example. I love to see a crowd jump in unison and Example achieved it effortlessly. Performing one of his biggest releases to date, ‘Changed the way you kiss me’, Example rocked the crowd and turned Weston-Super-Mare into a mini rave. You could almost feel the buzz coming through the TV.
Tying everything together in a nice little package of pop goodness, were the T4 presenters. With celeb interviews, inane games and even a sofa made out of leaves, the gang at T4 dished up the perfect Sunday afternoon musical feast, proving that life really is a beach!
I’d love to hear what you thought of T4 on the Beach, especially if you were there as opposed to bopping along on your sofa like me. So leave comments, pretty please, and let me know who you did or didn’t like.
Loves x
