If you are a lover of being in the water and exploring, you would have more than likely snorkelled somewhere in the World. If you haven’t, what are you waiting for, it’s truly amazing and there is so much to see.
I love being in the water and exploring but its only on my recent trip to Thailand and Indonesia that I really got to explore and enjoyed it and I think it’s all down to having the best equipment and location.
I’m not a big fan of the standard diving mask and snorkel tube. I’ve tried so many and never really found snorkel mouth pieces comfortable and a mask that 100% prevented water from entering. Also I’d find it difficult to breath through the snorkel tube and end up swallowing tonnes of sea water. So, I’d snorkel for a short period of time and then get fed up and give up. No snorkel mask that I have ever taken with me on holiday has ever returned home. I have either given it away to someone or binned it as they were not worth wasting luggage space over.
For my trip around Asia, Decathlon kindly sent me over the Tribord Easybreath snorkelling mask to try out. On paper the mask looked great, but so do most things you read about. I read many reviews and the product looked promising. After trying it out 5-7 times on my trip, I can say that I have finally found a snorkelling mask which is comfortable and makes snorkelling so much more fun and I didn’t ditch it on holiday, it came back home with me.
So here is a little bit about the mask;

The one thing I love about the mask is that they have got rid of the mouth piece This is brilliant as it was the main thing about snorkel I hated so much. And I didn’t realise how useful it was to be able to speak to one another under water rather than using hand signals to get someones attention. The ease of breathing and the actual mask being so comfortable to wear makes the whole experience of snorkelling so much more fun. There is no worry that your mask is going to start leaking and you’ll end up getting sea water in your eyes as the seal around the face is tight and you can adjust it by tightening the straps. As long as you get the correct size for your face you will be fine and there is a guideline on the website on how to measure up for a mask. The field of vision is much larger than a standard mask, that way you can capture a lot more going on around you. I must say you do look like a bit of a nutter entering the sea with this mask on as most people have never seen one. So many people were intrigued to look at it and try it on, it was a real conversation starter. Most of the people I spoke to loved snorkelling but had the same problem as me and never really found the standard masks and snorkels comfortable to wear. With this mask I was literally spending more than an hour in the sea at a time, which would normally never happen.
I personally think this mask is well worth the money and it’ll last you a long time. The mask itself is pretty solid, as for the entire 5 week trip it lived in my suitcase and managed to survive being chucked around at 11 different airports and 3 train stations. Only down size is it fairly large mask and does weigh a fair amount so if you are planning on travelling lightweight it may take up a fair bit of space.
If you’re interested in finding out more about the Tribord mask please click here and why don’t you pop into your local Decathlon store and try one on and see how it feels.
I can’t wait till my next adventure so I can put on my Tribord mask again and explore some more. I had the best time snorkelling with my Tribord mask and even got the chance to swim with Turtles off the Gili islands. Click here and it’ll take you to a clip of me snorkelling.
Big thank you to Decathlon and Tribord for the mask.
Please remember all views are my own and I wouldn’t rave about a product and share it with you if I didn’t truly like it.
