How you doing? haha
If the title of this post and the little intro hasn’t given it away, I’m here to tell you all about my trip to #FriendsFest.
Friends Fest is a festival that is touring various cities around the UK and its all based around one of the greatest TV shows of all times, FRIENDS!! You get to check out the sets of the show, visit Central Perk cafe, recreate the titles and loads more.
I had such a great day, the highlight for me has to be visiting Central Perk cafe and jumping on the mic and giving my rendition of Smelly Cat. As you can probably tell from the clip below, I can’t sing but that doesn’t stop me. Thankfully the windows and glasses were all intact when I left.
It is a day packed full of everything Friends related and must for all Friends fans. If you are planning on going (I think you should) here’s some info and some tips.
Friends Fest is over in Sheffield sadly, but don’t worry they will be in the cities below. Tickets are £26 each and if you click here it will take you to the site. You do need to be quick as it is selling out pretty quick.
Cardiff 21st-30th July 2017
Manchester 4th- 13th August 2017
Oxfordshire 18th-27th August 2017
Essex 1st-10th Sept 2017
London 15-24th Sept 2017
Some tips for your visit. I would suggest you will need a minimum of 3 hours for your visit. There are tours of the sets which are every 10 mins and take about 30 mins. During the tour you get to visit Joey and Chandlers apartment, through the corridor and into Rachel and Monica’s apartment. For each set you get about 10 ish mins I would say to take as many pictures as you like. Sit on Joey’s chair, have a picture with Hugsy, have a cup of coffee and a cookie in Monika and Rachel’s kitchen, plenty of opportunities to get some great Instagram shots. The staff on set are absolutely amazing, they really do go out their way to help take pictures for you, say if you’re with a friend and want one together. So, after the 10 mins you get a minute or so when everyone comes off set and you can grab a picture of the empty set. I would personally probably leave the set tour till nearer the end and once you have got your pictures at Central Perk, recreating the title, Ross and Rachel’s Vegas chapel of love etc. Be warned the recreating of the titles has the longest queue so I would maybe suggest getting that one soon as you get there.
There is food and drink available on site, you can visit Monica’s Moondance Diner or grab a drink in the Central Perk cafe. There is also a main stage where there are various activities going on throughout the day. If you get the chance please, please take part in learning ‘the routine’, you know Monica and Ross’s dance. haha…it was soooooo much fun. I’m definitely going to break out my new dance moves at the next get together.
There was no way I could leave without some Friends merchandise. I very nearly got carried away in the shop, but I did manage to control myself a little. I picked up a Central Perk mug £8.00, Central Perk notepad £12.00 and Central Perk Tote bag £8.00 (I love Central Perk, what more can I say). Kind of gutted that I didn’t get the Central Perk door mat.
If you do go, I hope you have as much fun as I did. It is the ULTIMATE FRIENDS experience and one not to miss for any Friends fans. Now I’m going to go and watch a few episodes as going to FriendsFest has reminded me of how much I love the show and how there is nothing else like it.
