I am a big Dr Marten fan. I have three pairs of Dr Martin Boots and love each of them equally. They are so hard-wearing and most importantly they are really comfortable. Please do note that some boots can take a couple of weeks of wear to break them in, don’t give up on them, so worth the pain. My boots are so comfortable now I can wear them for the whole day and walk non-stop and have never had any blisters and my feet never have that achy and tired feeling. The great thing about them is that you can wear them pretty much all year round (especially in the UK), with shorts, jeans and even toughen up a dress with them. Also with the British weather always being up and down you can’t go wrong with a good pair of boots.
My two most recent boots are these beauties. The cherry red boots which are the classic 1460 boot and the black Shower Boots. The Shower boots may look like your classic Dr Marten boot but taller, but if you look carefully they are actually wellies. The Shower Boot comes in a range of colours, black, cherry red, yellow and pink and are currently down from £85 to £40, which is a bargain. So, if you want a pair of theses, you’ve got to be quick. These boots are perfect for the terrible rainy weather we have in the UK and perfect for festival season coming up. Also, they have a bit more character and style than your bog standard Wellington’s, super comfortable, keep your feet dry and look awesome…I can’t ask for more than that. Best thing is I haven’t actually seen anyone else wearing these out and about, so something a little different. I am really looking forward to wearing these to some festivals this year. I am however going to have to go on the hunt for some new laces that are shorter than the current ones as they are super long and flap around when I’m walking. At the moment I am having to tuck them inside the boots.
The cherry red classics are so comfortable. It’s really odd, they didn’t take as long to break in compared to my original black 1460 boots. Don’t quite understand that as they are the same boot. I’m guessing it might be the way the leather has been treated. These boots are £105 and are unisex. May sound a bit steep but trust me, they are so hard-wearing you’ll have them for years and years.
Even though my black 1460 boots are very battered now as I’ve had them for over 3 years, I still love them. They have that retro, vintage look about them now and I’ve gone past the phase of worrying I’m going to scuff them. Also as time goes on they get more comfortable. My dad still has a pair of these boots and they are approximately 35 years old, he wears them a couple of months out of the year and they are still going strong…no sign of giving up.
I have to say Dr Martens are well worth the money and everyone should have a pair in their shoe collection. Think my next purchase will be a pair of sandals ready for my Summer trip to Ibiza…i have my eye on the white or black Clarissa sandal.
