We’re On a GoBoat

Go Boat London

Hey all,

Did the title of this post result in you getting a particular track in your head? haha, if you know you know, if you don’t…i’m sorry, you missed out or if you’re intrigued google, we’re on a boat.

I love going to London, particularly in summer or at Christmas, but have to say sometimes it can get a little too hectic and i need some timeout! So thats exactly what i did earlier this month when i was in London for a few days to celebrate my birthday. Go Boat kindly offered me a little treat and booked me a private 8 seat boat so i could tour the canals of London and explore London in a different way.

Here’s a little bit about GoBoat. So their boats can carry up to 8 people and they are the only self-drive, powered (yes, you don’t need to pedal) boating experience in London. You don’t need any previous boating experience, you’ll get fully trained before you set off. Its a great way to catch up with friends for lunch, dinner, birthday celebration, buy it as a gift for someone, options are endless. They even have a large picnic table on board so you can enjoy a feast.

So the prices start at £59 for one hour trip Mon-Fri (off-peak) and £79 for one hour trip Fri-Sat and bank-holidays (peak time) then for every additional hour it is £30. For full pricing click here. Pricing does change from time to time so please check their website for up to date pricing.

I thought the pricing was reasonable, particularly for an activity in London. You get to experience London in a whole new way and without all the hustle and bustle. If you manage to get 8 people together for say 3 hour hire on the weekend you’re looking at about about £17 per person which isn’t bad at all. Near the base at Merchant Square there are a couple supermarkets and a Marks and Spencer’s food so you can grab yourself some goodies for the journey. We ended up getting some fizzy drinks and some berries to enjoy. The weather was glorious and i had such an amazing time cruising down the canal to Little Venice then to Regents canal. We ran out of time but you can go all the way to Camden lock which is one of my fav spots in summer. Everyones out enjoying the weather, there is a real buzz around there.

I’ve got a feeling this is going to be a popular question. Is the boat hard to drive? I have to admit as much as the boat is easy to drive, i struggled haha. Every time i got a little too close to the edge or another boat i panicked and wanted someone to take over. After about 10 mins i got the hang of it.

I would highly suggest to get the boat for a minimum 2 hours. I feel like any less you won’t get time to get a feel for the boat and relax. I would try going for the 3 hours and then you’ll have enough time to stop, have some snacks and chill.

Thank you so much to GoBoat for offering me a complimentary trip through London. I had the best time and would highly recommend it. Click here to check out their website.
